Accessing the superconscious

Accessing the superconscious

March 5th, 2010 | Filed under Blog

Over the years, I’ve been intrigued into why I get my best ideas and intuition at about 2am.

To put this into context, whilst at University I did a majority of my dissertation in the early hours of the morning and regularly awake to great ideas, targets and aims for my to-do list, forge career targets and come up with my greatest ideas for clients’ websites.

I realise that this is my superconscious taking over, and something that I can only access during off-peak periods.

Apparently there are three states that our minds operate in. Now I’m no psychologist but I’ve realised that these are:

  1. Conscious
  2. Sub-conscious
  3. Superconscious

1. Conscious: Is a state of mind that forms everday patterns; driving, work, general autopilot on tasks, talking, but also thinking normal thoughts and ideas.

2. Sub-conscious: A state of mind that forms intuitive ideas and thoughts; for example if an old woman fell over in the street your natural sub-conscious feelings and intuition would be to help her up and ask if she’s ok.

3. Superconscious: Accessing the unorthodox, brilliant ideas, intuitive and most profitable thoughts that only appear during certain times – and not through everyday activities.

Therefore, if you are able to access your superconscious to form brilliant ideas throughout the day I take my hat off to you.

For me, I’ll just keep waking up at 2.30am with my notepad on my bedside table creating my business strategy – and the title of my next blog!
