Case Study Marks & Spencer

An Electronic Point of Sales (EPOS) system is crucial to businesses like M&S in gathering sales data, stock management info and in collating information about its customers.

We were asked to analyse M&S’s EPOS system in 2004 for which we won the M&S Project of the Year Award.

The project involved:

  1. A complete analysis of M&S’s EPOS system and customer interaction.
  2. A series of presentations to M&S Directors and Heads of Department from HQ, Uxbridge.
  3. A large scale interactive presentation video and printed portfolio.
  4. Implications analysis for HR, Operations and other M&S Staff.

The results from the conclusion of the project can be seen in stores today, and the introduction of the M&S Loyalty Scheme was an original recommendation.
