Website and Marketing Photography

Many of the photos out there on the web and on organisations’ marketing materials never fails to make me smile.

Today’s emphasis for marketing material photos is on racial harmony and diversity, smart professional looking people, age equality with most being absolutely useless in promoting the business. Most are none other than cheap, fake-looking meetings and training sessions that aim to show a business as a professional outfit.

Some websites have got some exceptional photos that comprehensively provide a quality appearance to their site and their business.

There are really only three options to getting photos for marketing materials and websites:

  1. ‘Buy’ some cheap stock photos from sites such as Fotolia that are largely uploaded by amateur (and some very-amateur) photographers;
  2. Hire a professional design company or professional photographer to take the photos for you; or
  3. Use your own photos from your training sessions, meetings and client meetings; photos of your materials and of your staff.

Obviously this highlights that there’s a cheap way of dressing up your website and an expensive way.

The cheapest option isĀ  also the best option and the most effective in marketing your business – use your own photos of your activities to promote what you do.

I hope you find this helpful in making the decision for the photos and images to use on your next website or marketing material update.
